The U.S. Capitol Police are responsible for the safety and security of Congress and Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. The officers ensure the safety of our elected officials, Congressional staff, adjacent neighborhoods, and the many American and foreign visitors to Capitol Hill.

An elite U.S. Capitol Police mounted unit, established by Congress in 2003, was decommissioned September 2005. Disbanding this mounted unit is a waste of tax-payer dollars and jeopardizes the safety of Congress and the public.

The Friends of the Capitol Police Mounted Officers is a diverse group of individuals with law enforcement, equestrian and public service backgrounds.

This website provides information and outlines what YOU can do to help re-activate this essential mounted police unit.
